Apart from glitz, glamour and pomp, almost all beauty pageants have a segment that vets social sensibilities of participants. The final score thus depends quite a lot on the approach and response of the participants to such questions put to them on stage. Often, the best answer wins the prize and the outstanding responses make headlines.

However, what Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa, who was crowned Miss Universe 2019 stated on the stage in this context was epic. Steve Harvey, who hosted the event asked her, "What is the most important thing that we should be teaching young girls today?"

And Tunzi replied, "I think the most important thing we should be teaching young girls today is leadership. It's something that has been lacking in young girls and women for a very long time, not because we don't want to but because of what society has labelled woman to be. I think we are the most powerful being on the world and that we should be given every opportunity and that is what we should be be teaching these young girls - to take up space. Nothing is important as taking up space in society and cementing their self..."

The power and the finesse with which Tunzi delivered the inspirational words sent out ripples of rapturous applause across the auditorium proving indubitably Tunzi deserved the Miss Universe crown of the year.
