Perumpilavu (Thrissur): When Prince Alapatt walked to the crease wearing a faded batting pad, he would have never thought that he was going to achieve a rare landmark in cricket. The 35-year-old accomplished an incredible feat as he slammed a double century in T20 cricket in the Thrissur District 'B' Division League.

Prince, who plays for Octopals Cricket Club, was in a punishing mood as he smashed 200 runs off 73 balls in a league encounter against Udbhav Sports Club. The knock, dotted with 23 boundaries and 15 sixes, helped Octopals CC drub Udbhav SC by 122 runs. Prince, a known face in local T20 tournaments, also serves as a cricket trainer at the Devamatha Public School in Thrissur.

West Indies all-rounder Rahkeem Cornwall was the first cricketer to score a double ton in T20 cricket. Playing for Atlanta Fire in the Atlanta Open 2022, a US-based T20 League, Cornwall smashed an unbeaten 205 off just 77 balls against Square Drive. However, his incredible milestone was not etched into the history books since Atlanta Open was not an officially recognised T20 tournament.

West Indian cricket legend Chris Gayle holds the record for the highest individual score in T20 cricket. The southpaw scored an unbeaten 66-ball 175 in the Indian Premier League for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against the now defunct Pune Warriors in 2013. Gayle’s record-breaking innings included 13 fours and 17 maximums.
