Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) proved too good for Delhi Capitals (DC) in an IPL 2024 match at the Eden Gardens on Monday night. KKR restricted DC to 153/9 after the visitors opted to bat. KKR chased down the modest target in just 16.3 overs to register a comfortable seven-wicket victory.
Spinner Varun Chakravarthy (3/16) and the medium-pace duo of Harshit Rana (2/28) and Vaibhav Arora (2/29) were among the wickets as the DC batters failed to get going. In fact it was only an unbeaten 35 by No. 9 Kuldeep Yadav, which took them past the 150-run mark. DC captain Rishabh Pant made a 20-ball 27.
Opener Phil Salt's blazing knock (68 off 33 balls) made it a cakewalk for KKR. The right-hander smashed seven fours and five sixes. Axar Patel 2/25 impressed for DC.
KKR are sitting pretty in second spot with 12 points from nine games, while DC are in sixth place with 10 points from 11 matches.
KKR next meet Mumbai Indians in away fixture on Friday, while DC host Rajasthan Royals after a week-long break on May 7 (Tuesday).
