As the world celebrates Mother's Day, ace Malayalam actor Mohanlal talks about the special person in his life.

Caught in the clutches of a disease, as my father slowly slipped into oblivion it was my mother who held his hand throughout. Normally, people are not even ready to take their relatives suffering from memory loss outside their home. But my mother ensured that my father did not miss out any function because of his illness and took him to all festive occasions. She patiently told him the same things over and over again. She even fed him like a child.

This Mother's Day, dish it out the way she loves it

Once, both of us took my father to the theater to watch one of my movies. I don't even know if my father recognized me on screen. But I was overwhelmed to see my parents watching the movie – like their early courtship days. Holding on to her hand, my father listened earnestly as my mother explained even the little nuances of the movie.

No doctor guided her on how to deal with disease-struck patients. So who taught my mother to attend to my father with such love and affection? No mother needs to be taught anything ... that's the spirit of motherhood.
