The Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA), the association of technicians in the cinema industry, has launched its women’s wing.
Interestingly, the new forum comes into being in addition to Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), a women's group in Malayalam film industry, formed last year.
The new forum will study and address the issues of women who work in various technical departments of cinema.
The first meeting of the forum was held in Kochi with popular dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi as the chairperson of the coordination committee.
A core committee of nine members under the leadership of Bhagyalakshmi has also been formed.
Bhagyalakshmi said that the new forum aims to address issues faced by countless women who work in various rungs of the film industry.
FEFKA President Siby Malayil and General Secretary B Unnikrishnan also spoke on the occasion.
