Those without much dreams conquer dreamy heights: Lijo Jose Pellissery

Film-maker Lijo Jose Pellissery, adjudged best director by the Kerala state film awards jury for 2107, has his feet firm on the ground. Pellissery told Onmanorama that the one thing he realized with this award was that the people who don't dream high achieved dreamy heights.

“I have never hoped or even dreamt about an award. When I started off my career as a film-maker, the only thing I was sure about was my passion and the fact that I give my cent percent to the work I do. This award, in that sense, is a recognition to that sincerity. This is a big thing for me,” he said.

Speaking about Ee Ma Yau, his movie that won him the award, Lijo said it was yet another movie he had done with great passion and experimentation. “I know that the award has heightened people's expectations about the movie. Each recognition is a responsibility. I hope the movie fulfills their expectations when it actually lands in the theaters,” he said.

The 'Angalamy Diaries' director has been distinguished for his atypical themes and making patterns. Expressing his gratitude to the team of artists and technicians behind Ee Ma Yau, Lijo said it would consume a whole day if he started mentioning the people he was thankful to. “Each artist, each technician and each professional behind this movie was as invaluable. Still, I would like to thank Chemabn Vinod, Vinayakan, the movie's writer PF Mathews, sound designer Renganath Ravee and others to have taken me to this success,” he said.

His earlier movies are Amen, Angamaly Diaries, Double Barrel, City of God and Nayakan, all of which were superhits in the theaters.
