In a major blow to the makers of the upcoming Manju Warrier-starrer Mohanlal, the Thrissur District court has stayed the release of the movie.
The stay order came after noted screen writer Kalavoor Ravikumar filed a petition stating that movie directed by Sajid Yahiya was adapted from one of his collections of short stories, 'Mohanlaline Enikippol Bhayamkara Pediyanu.'
The makers have been accused of a breach of the copyrights act and Kalavoor Ravikumar has demanded 25% of the profit of the film.
Mohanlal directed by Sajid Yahiya was slated to hit the theaters as a Vishu release. The screenplay has been written by Suneesh Varanad. Kalavoor Ravikumar said that the makers of the movie had promised him the copyright of the story.
However, director Sajid Yahiya told Manoramaonline that they haven’t committed any copyright violation during the making of the film Mohanlal.
