Cop's book on cyber safety set for release as short film

The film is aimed at creating awareness among the public, especially youngsters, about children's safety in the cyber world.

Former Kannur SP K Sanjay Kumar Gurudin's book on online safety for children, titled 'Is Your Child Safe?' (Ningalude Kuttikal Surakshitharano?) has been made into a 34-minute short film, with several police officers essaying various roles.

The first screening of the film would be held at the KAP 4 campus in Mangattuparamba, Kannur on June 9 at 7 pm. Ports minister Ramachandran Kadannappally will inaugurate the screening of the film and will releasing the movie's DVD.

Gurudin is currently the commandant of KAP 4th battalion.

Directed by Riju Kambil from Kannur, the film in Malayalam, would be having the same title of the book, which was a best-seller last year. It was one of its kind in the field of cyber safety for children.

The book was widely discussed for its content and narration and was published at a time when cyber crimes against children were rising.

The short film is based on the screenplay by Ashraf Pilathara, who has handled the dialogues as well. Bindu Augustin, Nadam Murali and Neeraja Anoop have produced the telefilm under the banner of Goodwill Creations. The film, aimed at creating awareness among the public, especially youngsters, would be screened freely in schools, before its YouTube release on a later date, said Riju.

The teaser of the short film was released by Kannur Collector Mir Muhammed Ali. KAP 4 assistant commandant Sudheer Kumar, SI NV Augustin and SI Somarajan have also acted in the film along with child artistes Anaswara Murali, Ashif and Anita Augustin. The shooting was held in Bakkalam, Taliparamba and KAP4 camp and was completed in six days.
