Popular Malayalam actor Prithviraj on Saturday came out offering solidarity to his co-actress who was abducted and harassed by a gang near Kochi during the wee hours of Saturday.

In an emotionally charged Facebook post, Prithviraj said as a man who has to share the responsibility of a society that bears this shame, he hanged his head.

Apparently lauding the courage of the actor for going to the police with a complaint, the actor said the most that could be done now collectively was to "respect the guts of the girl".

Prithviraj said he was about to join the actress for a film soon but after the incident, she informed him that she was pulling out of the film as she would not like to face camera immediately.

"I know this girl..I know how brave she is...if it's affected her enough to make her stay away from what she loves the most..I can only imagine how harrowing it must have been. Yes..please let us have an effective investigation in place and please let's bring the b*****s to justice asap," (sic) he wrote.

The actress was abducted for a while on her way from Thrissur to Kochi on Friday night. The police have registered a case for kidnapping and molestation.
