Mumbai: The first look of superstar Rajinikanth starrer 2.0 was released in Mumbai on Sunday in a star-studded event, producers of the film.
Rajinikanth, his co-stars Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson besides the movie's director Shankar and producer Subashkaran were among those present for the release of the first look. The event was held at Yashraj Studios in Mumbai and popular director Karan Johar was emceeing the event.
Meanwhile, at the launch, superstar Rajinikanth said he was quite tempted to play Akshay Kumar's role in his upcoming Tamil science-fiction actioner 2.o. He said Akshay is the real hero of the film.
"If given a chance, I would have played Akshay's character. He is the real hero of the film," Rajinikanth said.
Akshay Kumar plays the prime antagonist in the film, which will hit the screens worldwide during Diwali 2017.
Talking at the event, Akshay said: "Director Shankar said my role will be difficult but I enjoyed it. The subject is very unique. I'm sure this film will reach the standards of Hollywood."
A sequel to 2010 Tamil blockbuster Enthiran, the film is being made on a lavish budget of Rs 350 crore.
While Rajinikanth returns as scientist Vaseegaran, Akshay will be seen playing an eccentric scientist called Richard.
The film, which is directed by S Shankar, also stars Amy Jackson, Sudhanshu Pandey and Adil Hussain in important roles. A R Rahman has scored the music for the film.
