The audio launch of S. Shankar’s gargantuan movie 2.0, which is scheduled to happen on Friday, is all set to be a gala event. Megastar Rajinikanth, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, producer Shankar and music maestro A.R. Rahman have already reached the venue.
The launch, which is supposedly the biggest event of 2017, is being organized by Lyka Productions, in association with Emaar properties. It’s the first time Rajinikanth is taking part in an overseas audio launch function.
Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan will be the chief guest at the event. A live show featuring 125 musicians will be the highlight of the show. Although there is only one song in the film, the album features five singles.
The organizers claim that the audio launch event is designed in such a manner that it will dwarf all such events held in UAE so far. More than Rs 15 crore is said to have been coughed up for the audio launch alone. Huge LED screens have been installed at prominent shopping malls in Dubai for the live broadcast of the event.
The program, which is set to be a resplendent spectacle, will showcase dance numbers by Amy Jackson, who is playing the female lead in the film. As many as 12,000 spectators are expected to attend the show, said Ahmad Al Matrooshi, managing director, Emaar Properties. As many as four entry passes will be given to each attendee and the seats will be allotted on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Film enthusiasts, including those in the Gulf region, have been waiting for the 2.0 release with great expectations. Tamil flicks, especially Rajini movies, have a mass appeal in the Gulf. Rajini's last film Kabali was a mega grosser in the region. The film is produced at a cost of 90 million USD, which makes it the costliest film ever made in Asia. It's is a sequel to Enthiran, a story surrounding a robot named Chitti and its scientist creator Vaseegaran.
