Manorama 'Soccer Express' campaign begins

Kochi: 'Soccer Express', a district-wide promotional campaign tour organized by Malayala Manorama and Chungath Jewellery in connection with the FIFA U-17 World Cup was flagged off on Thursday.

Olympian O. Chandrasekharan inaugurated the campaign by kicking a football into the goal at a function held on the Malayala Manorama office premises. ‘The Family Football Fest’ theme song was released by A. P. M. Mohammed Hanish, the State government’s nodal officer for the U-17 World Cup.

The 'Soccer Express' will travel the length and breadth of the district, spreading the football frenzy. The vehicle, decorated with World Cup-themed designs and slogans, will play videos of the official teaser and theme songs during the course of the journey. A replica of the FIFA U-17 World Cup trophy will also be on display, the organizers said.

The campaign vehicle will make a stopover at colleges and public grounds along its route to hold soccer-based programs and competitions. Winners of 'spot kick' and 'spot quiz' contests will be given special gifts.

Coupons to take part in the mega lucky draw in connection with the Football Family Fest will also distributed through 'Soccer Express'. Hundreds of prizes in different categories will be given away daily, the organizers added.

The promotional campaign will end on October 13.
