Kolkata: England made a solid start to their FIFA U-17 World Cup campaign as winger Jadon Sancho scored a brace in their 4-0 win against Chile at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan here, on Sunday.

England opened their account five minutes into the game as Callum Hudson-Odoi scored from the center of the box, thanks to a brilliant assist by Sancho. Though English players kept attacking, Chiliean goalkeeper Borquez managed to keep the score pinned at 1-0 in the first half.

England, however, found their second goal in the 51st min after Borquez failed to clear a low cross from the right which Sancho converted easily.

Sancho was in the thick of action again and he netted his second goal, assisted by George McEachran. Sancho now has 15 goals from 17 international appearances.

Chile went down to ten-men with ten minutes to after keeper Borquez was given the marching orders for a reckless challenge on an English player outside the box. Angel Gomes made the most of the opportunity and struck the ball past the helpless makeshift goalkeeper to seal the tally 4-0 for England.

England enjoyed most of the ball possession and Chile were put into misery as they could not find a single shot on goal.
