St Petersburg: Two injury time strikes helped Brazil beat Costa Rica 2-0 in their Group E World Cup match, here on Friday.
After being goalless in the regulation time, Philippe Coutinho broke the deadlock in the 91st minute as he scored from close range assisted by Gabriel Jesus. Then, Neymar made it 2-0 in the 97th minute to seal their win.
In the first half, Gabriel Jesus had the ball in the net after 26 minutes but it was correctly ruled out for offside. Both Philippe Coutinho and Marcelo had long-range shots that whizzed off target, while Celso Borges shot wide from eight metres out for Costa Rica in what was perhaps the best chance of the game.
