Rostov-on-don, Russia: Javier Hernandez strike helped Mexico edge past South Korea 2-0 in their World Cup Group F game.

Carlos Vela converted a penalty to put Mexico ahead at half-time. Vela sent goalkeeper Cho Hyun-woo the wrong way after a cross hit the outstretched arm of Jang Hyun-soo at close range. Javier Hernandez scored his fourth World Cup finals goal in the 66th minute, equalling Luis Hernandez as Mexico's all-time top scorer at the World Cup. Heungmin Son scored a consolation goal for South Korea in the 90+3 minute to reduce thier deficit.
