Worried about GST? A handy guide on available helplines

Kochi: The government has been working overtime to create awareness about the Goods and Services Tax ahead of the switch to the new system on July 1. Advertisements apart, the government and various agencies have been organizing seminars on the GST to teach businessmen and customers about the nitty-gritty of the new structure.

Chambers of commerce and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India are also into an awareness campaign about the GST.

Here’s a handy guide to the helplines available on various aspects of the GST.

* The Central Board of Excise and Customs website www.cbec.gov.in has valuable information on the GST. The site has a list of FAQ in English and Indian languages including Malayalam.

* You could also log into www.cbec-gst.gov.in or www.icegate.gov.in

* The GST Network has launched a call center in association with Infosys and Tech Mahindra to help out businesses with enrollment to the GST. Call 0120 4888999.

* Or call GSTN help desk at 0124 4688999. There is a toll-free helpline at 1800 1200 232. Email at helpdesk@gst.gov.in
