Panaji: Forty-five films will bring a slice of what's happening on the world's celluloid to the ninth day of the 46th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) on Saturday.
Among them are 3000 Nights, an Arabic and Hebrew film directed by Mai Masri, Tangerline (English) by Sean Baker, Rams (Icelandic) by Grimur Hakonarson, From afar by Lorenzo Vigas.
A documentary Benegal's new cinema on the films of Shyam Benegal will be the major attraction from India on the day. Neeraj Ghaywan's Masaan will have a repeated screening for a packed audience with filmlovers grabbing all the tickets in advance.
Malayalam film Lukka Chuppi will be screened in the afternoon in the Indian Panorama category. Directed by Bash Mohammed, the film explores the complexities of man-woman relationships, and is a celebration of freindship. Dr. Biju's Valiya chirakulla Pakshikal is slated for a repeat screening in the afternoon.
British film editor Humphry Dixon will conduct a masterclass on editing while Nandan Saxena and Kavita Behl will conduct a workshop on digital cinematography.
On Friday, 45 films were screened. Director of Pakistani documentary Among the believers, Hemal Trivedi; British film editor Humphry Dixon, Malayalam director Jayaraj, Tamil director Hari Viswanath among others addressed the audience and media at various events.
Bollywood filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra conducted a masterclass on direction. Later, speaking to the media, he offered support to actor Aamir Khan who came under attack from the right wing politicians following his remark on intolerance.
