Malayalam's woods to bloom in Goa film festival today

Panaji: Kaadu pookkunna neram, a highly political drama which discusses the complex relationship between the marginalized people and the agencies of power, will mark Malayalam cinema's space in the ongoing 47th edition of International Film Festival of Goa Tuesady.

Around 50 films from various categories will be screened on the third day of the festival.

Kadu pookkunna neram (When the woods bloom) will have its screening in the presence of director Dr. Biju and lead actress Rima Kallingal.

Four films – The Student (Russia), Daughter (Iran), According to her (US/France) and Nelly (Canada) – will be screened in the international competition segment.

Much- acclaimed Marathi film Sairat directed by Nagraj Manjule will be screened at night.

Kalpana

Late actor Kalpana will be paid a homage through her film Thanichalla njan. As part of paying homage to archivist P.K. Nair, a documentary title Celluloid Man will be screened.

Noted documentary filmmaker from Canada, Richie Mehta, will conduct a masterclass on his medium.
