Kochi: Kerala Blasters have confirmed that they would not sign India’s U-17 World Cup player Komal Thatal in the winter transfer window slated to open in January.

The team management took the decision after assessing that the youngster from Sikkim is not yet ready to break into the Blasters first team in the ongoing ISL season.

ISL franchises ATK and FC Pune had approached Komal after he was left out of Indian Arrows, a team consisting of national U-17 and U-19 players brought together by the All Indian Football Federation to compete in the I-League.

I-League side Minerva Punjab FC too had made a bid for him by offering a minimum of 10-match game-time.

The blonde-headed winger, had been linked with a move to Blasters after he reportedly expressed his willingness to join the Kochi-based side through his agent.
