Leakage from AC vent in Kochi Metro's coach creates furore among public | Video

Kochi: A video showing leakage in one of the Kochi Metro's new coaches have caught the attention of many on various social media platforms on Friday. The video, which was shared by many on Facebook and YouTube, created a furore among the users.

As the visual went viral, Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) clarified that the leakage was not due to rain. They said it was due to the water coming out from an air-conditioner vent.

"The train is constructed with stainless steel material, and there will not be any leakage due to rain. It is the water coming out of an air conditioner vent," the KMRL said in a statement.

"The drain pipe end from the air conditioner is kept below the car body for draining water got damaged while moving on curves and created a reverse pressure to the pump and dropped water to the saloon. This is a minor issue only," the statement said.

KMRL officials said that they have taken up the matter with coach manufacturer Alstom.

The new sets of trains, which will be brought in soon, will not have such issues.

"One by one the existing trains will go through rectification process," the statement posted on their Facebook page said.
