Govt incurred no loss from solar deals: CM before panel

Kochi: Deposing before the solar scam commission headed by Justice G. Sivarajan, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Monday said that the Solar panel deals and the scam triggered by them had incurred no loss to the State exchequer.

In an affidavit filed before the commission, the government took no supportive steps for the accused. It is only the Opposition's allegation that there was a financial loss.

He also maintained that he had never seen Sreedharan Nair, the complainant, and Saritha Nair together. There was a mistake in the date mentioned in the State Assembly about the meeting with Saritha Nair in New Delhi. The date mentioned in the State Assembly was December 29, 2012, but the national development committee meeting in Delhi was held on December 27.

The chief minister also said that Biju Radhakrishnan, another prime accused in the scandal, had met him to personally to convey a grievance and that the details could not be divulged.

Meanwhile, the Kerala High Court had stayed the Solar Commission order to produce before it the controversial letter possessed by Saritha S. Nair.
