Kozhikode: Solar scam prime accused Saritha S. Nair became the central topic of discussion at the delegates' meet held as part of the Kerala Police Association's district convention here on Thursday.

The official faction of association, which is accused of receiving money from the accused in the multi-crore scam, lashed out at Saritha, calling her a 'monster' and 'mad dog'.

However, the Left-lenient faction countered the official group's arguments, saying the latter should make it clear why Saritha named and shamed only the Police Association of all the service organisations.

Final report on solar scam will be delayed: Commission

The discussion was held in the presence of Police Association district secretary G. R. Ajith, whom Saritha accused of receiving money from her.

Gave Rs 20 lakh to police association: Saritha

Earlier, while presenting the report of the state committee, Ajith had alleged that former office-bearers were behind the allegations. The opposition faction challenged the argument, saying Ajith can't escape by putting the blame on former functionaries. They also said that those who are facing allegations should 'prove their honesty'.

ADGP Nitin Agarwal inaugurated the meeting.

Saritha, in her statement to the Justice Sivarajan Commission probing the scam, had said that she had given Rs 20 lakh to the Police Association general secretary G.R. Ajith and that an advertisement of her company 'Team Solar' was carried in the association's magazine.
