Classic style, lavish ventilation, spacious interiors, six bedrooms and a unique living room modeled like the interiors of an airplane. These were the design elements owner Mohammed put forth the archietct. The designer delivered on all counts and the 5, 000 sq ft house in Mongam, Malappuram, reflects all these demands. It’s a visually stunning elevation which greets visitors.
The plot had no shape in particular. It was then given separate shapes with different designs and landscaped aesthetically. The natural stone and green grass make the garden a visual treat. The lighting gives the house an ethereal look and it’s a magnificent sight by night.
The elevation comes in three levels. The structure has a well-planned design incorporating the best of sloping and flat roofing styles. The second floor sports a small party area. The spacious car porch can hold three cars at the same time. It’s on to a long verandah that one steps onto from the porch. There are no pillars to mar the beauty and ambiance of the space. The fold ceiling in white finish with lights within brightens up the place and gives it a rich look.
A room like an airplane
The living room has been designed after the interior of an airplane. Brown-toned leather sofas have been arranged in symmetrical rows to give it the semblance of the mechanical bird. A wall here has wooden paneling with wallpaper highlighting the room decor. Marine ply has been used to brighten up the false ceiling and the hanging lights give the room its rich look.
A partition wall separates the formal living from the dining section. One side of the partition wall holds the TV unit inside a wood paneled space. The other side holds the wash counter. Stone claddings in grey provide an apt contrast to the paneled wood.
Courtyard decor
As usual, the highlight of the interior is the courtyard. All the three floors enjoy the luxury of having beautifully designed courtyards. The courtyards are all flanked by plywood panelings in wood finish. The multi-wood pergolas with CNC cuttings on top in perfect Mughal style lend give the place its oriental look. The glass-paneled floor below has been tastefully decorated with pebbles. The LED strips inside make the space look extremely attractive.
The courtyard walls enjoy wood-finish cladding tiles. A passage has been provided by the side of the courtyard. All the bedrooms open out into the passage. The staircase is very simple with glass and steel for handrail. A storage unit has been provided below this space.
However, the highlight of the structure is the lift that carries men and material up, especially when parties are held.
Bright bedrooms
There are three bedrooms up and three down, with each room enjoying a different color theme. Matching curtains and shades heighten the designs of the rooms. All the rooms have attached bathrooms and wardrobes.
The modular kitchen looks chic with its white theme. A work area has been provided beside it. A breakfast counter finds space within the kitchen. The counter top in nano white and the wide chimney add to its spacious look. The hanging lights are also another highlighting design element.
