This plush Thrissur home will leave you spellbound!

A lot of home work and planning had to be gone into before Dubai-based civil engineer, Jayesh’s dream home, Malhar, came up at Chavakkad, Thrissur.

The 2,400 sq ft house of the Jayesh-Nileena couple stands on 20 cents of land. The credit for design and plan goes undoubtedly to Jayesh, who had designed many a structure before he came up with plans for his own house.

The NRI couple was very particular about a single-storied building, which would be easy to maintain. True to their decision, Malhar has all amenities and conveniences going for it inside and out. The house is well packed with a sit-out, car porch, living-dining space, kitchen, work area, pooja space, courtyard, three bedrooms and attached bathrooms completing the picture of a luxurious living set-up. The floor up comprises a small hall and a bar counter.

Mangalore roofing tiles are affixed over concrete sloping roofs. Cladding tiles on the exterior show walls add glamour to the structure.

While plywood and laminate make up most of the furnishing, granite and vitrified tiles for floors enhance the luxury quotient. Wallpapers highlight the design element of the interiors. A sofa in white fabric gels with the living decor. The false ceiling in gypsum veneer complements the overall look of the living space.

The courtyard, the dining space and the staircase have been aesthetically arranged within the main hall. The skylights and a ceiling in double height here bring in the natural light inside. The courtyard done up with pebbles and artificial grass is another highlight of the interior. An eight-seat, glass-topped dining table graces the dining area. With steel and toughened glass for handrails and wood for stairs, the staircase is a study in elegance.

Every nook has been optimally utilised and this, precisely, is the highlight of the house. The space between two walls doubles up as the pooja area. A Buddha picture in one of the passages, with LED brightening up the space, is another attractive feature.

The kitchen is minimalist in design. The long granite counter and elegant storage space are its highlights. The work area has ample space for washing and ironing clothes.

The bedrooms look warm and cozy with mellow colour tones. Headboards and wall niches are other design elements here. The bathrooms have shower cubicles, and have separate dry and wet areas.

With an unusual design, the garden has a seating area close to the gate in front of the house. This space is meant for the family to chill out and relax. A small fish pond is an added attraction. The planter boxes highlight the effect of landscaping.

Overall, Malhar is its owner’s pride and the envy of all those who come visiting.
