Kochi: BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan on Tuesday reiterated that the video that purportedly showed CPM workers 'celebrating the murder' of an RSS activist at Payyannur was authentic.
"The video is authentic. I am even ready to go to jail for that," Kummanam told reporters on Tuesday. He made the statement a day after chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the BJP state president could face criminal proceedings if the video he posted on Twitter in the aftermath of an RSS worker’s murder proved to be false.
CM warns of police action against Kummanam for unverified video on Twitter
Kummanam claimed in the tweet that the video showed CPM workers celebrating the murder of Choorakkad Biju at Payyannur on Friday. Several youngsters are seen celebrating in the video but there were no slogans or any other signs of political affiliation.
Complaint against Kummanam
Meanwhile, SFI Kannur district president Muhammed Siraj submitted a complaint to the chief minister and the DGP. In his complaint, he alleged that the Kummanam was trying to heighten the tension between the RSS and the CPM in the politically volatile district by posting the 'fake' video.
Biju, an accused in the killing of a CPM worker, was out on bail when he was murdered on May 12. It was the first incident of political violence after peace talks were held between leaders of the CPM and the BJP-RSS in Kannur in January.
