Thiruvananthapuram: Two mobile phones, SIM cards and chargers, used by accused in the sensational T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case, have been seized in a raid conducted at the Poojapura central jail here.

These were seized from the cell of Annan Sijith, an accused serving imprisonment in the Chandrasekharan murder case and Basit Ali, who is serving imprisonment in Bhaskara Karanavar murder case, jail sources said. The raids were conducted from 6 pm to 8 pm Sunday following a tip-off the jail superintendent received.

Director general of Prisons and Correctional Services R. Sreelekha visited the prison Monday. She later told reporters that two mobile phones have been seized.

"We will definitely probe how the phones landed inside the prison", she said.

Three accused in the T.P. murder case are in the Poojapura jail. They are Trouser Manoj alias Manoj, Annan Sijit alias Sijit and Rafeeq. Reports had come out earlier that the three are on a jolly holiday in the jail. Three others in the case, Kodi Suni, Mohammed Shafi and T.K. Rajeesh are in Thrissur Viyyur jail. The separation was done after a conclusion that it is not proper to keep all the six together.

They were found using cell phones earlier at Kozhikode and Viyyur jails also. They exposed themselves, getting active on social media like Facebook. Suni and Shafi were caught in Viyyur. A jailer-led raid found two expensive phones with Internet facility, two power banks for recharging, data cables and three SIM cards.
