Thrissur: Two young brothers here, who are hardcore BJP activists, seem to have no respect for prime minister Narendra Modi's war on black money. However, they launched a Kerala version of 'Make in India', Modi's another pet project, though for the wrong product - the Indian currency notes.
The police on Thursday seized counterfeit notes to the tune of Rs 1.5 lakh and machines for printing fake currency notes from the house of two BJP leaders - Rakesh Ezhachery and Rajeev - at Mathilakom near here.
The police conducted a raid at the house, after they received a complaint that Rakesh was lending money illegally. Rakesh is a member of Yuva Morcha, SN Puram panchayat committee, while Rajeev is secretary of OBC Morcha's Kaypamangalam constituency.
Rakesh was taken into custody by the police team led by Irinjalakuda ACP Kiran Narayanan.
Counterfeit note in the denominations of Rs 2,000 and Rs 500, along with the machine and paper used for printing them, were seized.
