Thiruvananthapuram: DGP Loknath Behera, who took charge as the Kerala police chief on Friday after a nearly-two month break, said he was satisfied with the ongoing probe into the sensational actress attack case.

Behera, who took over as the DGP in charge of law and order from T.P. Senkumar, said an excellent team was probing the case, which had witnessed several twists and turns of late.

Behera's statement contradicted Senkumar's stance that the probe was not in the right direction.

Senkumar: a rational's journey which took an agnostic turn

Senkumar, ahead of his retirement on Friday, had issued a circular stressing the need for a professional enquiry into the case. He was reportedly unhappy with ADGP B. Sandhya's actions without consulting team head ADGP Dinendra Kashyap.

Soon after taking charge, Behera said he would examine the circumstances under which Senkumar issued the circular.

He said the police would soon be introducing the facility for filing complaints online in order to help the public.

'Criminalization of cops'

Senkumar, in his farewell address, said criminalization of police force was on the rise. He said criminalization was higher among the top brass of the force.

He also said police force should be free of political lineage.

Senkumar had replaced Behera on May 6 as director general of police (law and order) after a successful 11-month legal battle in the Supreme Court against the LDF government which had unceremoniously removed him from the post soon after coming to power last year.
