It's a bid to destroy Dileep: producer Suresh Kumar

Suresh Kumar, Dileep

Thiruvananthapuram: Noted Malayalam movie producer, G. Suresh Kumar, has come forward in support of embattled actor Dileep, who has been accused of hiring goons to abduct and assault an actress in Kochi.

“Dileep has been trapped in the conspiracy case in a bid to destroy him. Attempts are being made to finish off an innocent man,” Suresh Kumar told Manorama News Sunday.

Though many people from the industry had come out in support after rumors sprung upon his alleged role in the case, these voices went silent after the actor was arrested on July 10. Kumar, a producer for over three decades, asserted that no one should be under the impression that people in the film industry did not offer any support to Dileep.

Soon after Dileep was arrested for plotting the February 17 attack, many of his business establishments too came under the scanner.

Talking about Dileep's multiplex, D-Cinemaas, that was closed down Saturday, the producer asked: “What exactly is the connection between the actress assault case and D-Cinemaas?”

“Dileep is also a distributor and businessman, and could be having investments in many places. D-Cinemaas was closed down over a generator issue when no evidence was found to prove the allegations of land grab. Who is playing behind this and why?” asked Kumar.

The producer pointed out that politicians who had attacked Dileep, were silent when an MLA was arrested in a molestation case.
