Kottayam: Sacha Sauda Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who fell from grace after being found guilty by a CBI special court in a rape case on Friday, had plans to pump in a whopping Rs 6,000 crore in real estate in Kerala.
The intelligence sleuths had reported this to the government in 2015. The self-styled god man had also wanted to launch a spiritual music channel in Malayalam. There were also rumors that Gurmeet had offered a huge amount to a Malayalam film actor for joining his sect.
Gurmeet's flashy visit to Kerala three years back under the full protective cover of Haryana police force had kicked up a controversy.
The Haryana police chose not to respond to the queries from the Kerala government on the security cover for the god man. Kerala had sought details of the security personnel accompanying him. Following this, the state also wrote to the Home Ministry. In its letter, Kerala made it clear that state police could not be deployed for the security of those visiting for private business purposes.
Kerala also demanded the full details of those accompanying Gurmeet if he was visiting the state under the cover of private security personnel or of any other state police force.
Gurmeet, known for bling lifestyle, also had plans to hold a music show at a Kochi stadium. But, he had to drop the plan after being swarmed by agitated Malayali netizens. The post announcing the music show irked the Malayalis who showered the choicest abuses on the guru through social media.
