Ananthu performs magic during a show.

Thiruvananthapuram: Age has never come in the way of Ananthu in casting his spell through his magic shows and achieving a milestone in such a young age. The 17-year-old Class XI student of Chinmaya Vidyalaya has already performed at more than 1,000 venues.

Ananthu, who lives at EVR-37, Eshwara Vilasam Road, in Jagathy with his mother Bindu, entered the world of magic some eight years ago. His first show was at Poojappura Mahila Mandiram School.

His 1,000th show was at Pattazhy in Kottarakkara. Apart from his usual tricks and illusions, he spreads awareness against drugs use and environmental damage during his shows and they are lapped up by audience.

It was his father who encouraged him to learn magic and Manu Poojappura was his first teacher. He then joined Gopinath Muthukad's academy to hone his skills further.

Ananthu recalls that it was the wishes of his father who died one-and-a-half years ago in an accident that helped him perform at more than 1,000 stages at such a young age.

He performs under the aegis of Manthrikam Magical Entertainers.
