Thiruvananthapuram: In a first, the Kerala State Beverages Corporation (Bevco) is all set to appoint a woman employee to one of its liquor outlets.
Shiny Raj, on the lower division clerk (LDC) rank list of the corporation, will be posted at the Chalakudy outlet in Thrissur.
The process to appoint those on the 2010 rank list started in 2013, but only men had got the orders so far.
Shiny initiated a legal fight after candidates ranked below got postings.
The Bevco's stance was that women could not work at its outlets.
However, the court ruled in favor of Shiny, paving way for her imminent posting.
Though the Bevco had planned to issue an order in this regard on Wednesday, it was stalled for a couple of days as some rules needed amendment, official sources told Manorama Online.
There are 200 vacancies in the Bevco.
It is learnt that Shiny will be in the accounts section as women may not be put in the sales department immediately.
