Renowned Kerala writer K Panoor dies

The 91-year-old writer, also a social activist, was under treatment for ailments at a private hospital in Kannur.

Kannur: Renowned writer K Kunjiraman Panoor, whose pen name is K Panoor, passed away on Tuesday following age-related ailments.

The 91-year-old writer, also a social activist, was under treatment for ailments at a private hospital here, family sources said.

Panoor, a recipient of Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award, is the author of the work 'Keralathile Africa', 'Keralathile America' and 'Ha, Naxalbari'.

Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and state minister for culture A K Balan were among those condole the death of the writer.

Pinarayi said in a message that Panoor who was an officer at the State Revenue Department worked for the uplifitment of tribals.

"He will be always remembered as a servant of tribals," the CM said.
