4 Tirupati pilgrims die as car collides with bus

Local media in Andhra reported that the accident took place at Madhavan Thoppil on Chittoor-Tirupati Road.

Chittoor: Four Keralites were killed and four others injured as a Karnataka government-run bus collided with a car at Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Pakkeera Geddy, 65, of Nayikkappu, Kumbala; his younger brother Manjappa Geddy, 50, Manjappa's wife Sundari and Madhur native Sadasivan.

The nine-member team was on the way to Tirupati on a pilgrimage. The injured have been admitted to a government hospital nearby. The condition of one of the injured is said to be critical.

The accident took place at Bengarupalam near Chittoor. The police have started a probe into the incident.
