Is Biju Radhakrishnan critically ill?

Kochi: The name of solar scam accused Biju Radhakrishnan, who is serving life term in jail for murdering his wife, has come up before the medical board that prepares the list of prisoners who suffer from serious ailments.

Biju's name found a place on the list of 14 names forwarded by Poojappura central jail to the medical board.

Based on the list, Biju was examined by a team of expert doctors from Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.

The medical board examines the elderly, those with serious illnesses and those needing immediate treatment and submits a report.

In central jails, a team of specialist doctors from the nearest government medical college will work as the medical board.

Complaints regarding treatment in the jail hospital too comes up before the medical board.

Biju Radhakrishnan had complained that he was suffering from serious ailments whenever he was brought to the court in various cases.

However, jail authorities said that they couldn't detect any serious ailments even after multiple tests at the jail hospital and the medical college.

Earlier, Biju was taken to hospitals on complaints of stomach pain.

The jail authorities said that Biju was included in the list because of his repeated complaints of illness.

The reports of the March 8 medical tests on Biju and others are yet to come.

According to guidelines, those convicted of murdering women are not entitled to commutation of their sentence.

Biju's medical condition could seek a waiver to this.
