Aslam murder case: police investigation leads to CPM leaders

Slain IUML activist Muhammed Aslam

Kozhikode: The investigation into the Muhammed Aslam murder case in Nadapuram led the police to some local CPM leaders. The sleuths conducted raids in the houses of local CPM leaders in Valayam region. The house of CPM area secretary in Valayam was searched in the midnight. The police move was forced by reports that the assailants were Valayam natives. The police assume that the murder could not have happened without the knowledge of the CPM leaders in Valayam.

According to the police, the car the murderers used was rented out for Rs 12,000 and the owner of the car is at large. The middleman who arranged the car has been detained. The murder was committed four days after the car was rented out.

Meanwhile, the CPM activists took out a protest against the police for creating violent scenes at night in their houses.

Muhammed Aslam, a 20-year-old IUML activist, was hacked to death on Friday. Aslam was one of the 17 acquitted by the Special Additional Sessions Court (Marad cases) in June this year in the case related to murder of Shibin, a 19-year-old DYFI activist.

Shibin was killed by a gang in Thooneri in Nadapuram on January 22, 2015.
