Kochi:  Kalabhavan Mani rode into the tinsel town in an autorickshaw and left unexpectedly, shattering hearts and leaving a clutchful of memories.

Actor Mani’s was a story of a dark horse.  In memory of the actor, Oruma, a collective of alumni of the Government Law College here, has come forward to lend a helping hand to a needy student.

The third-year LLB student, Ajesh Kodanad, usually drives his brother Aneesh’s autorickshaw in his free time to fund his education.

After knowing about the student’s hardship, the collective donated him an autorickshaw, which proudly displays its name ‘Manichettan.’

Professor S. Girishankar handed over the keys of the vehicle to Ajesh. On completion of the course, he will hand over the three-wheeler to another needy student.

The last song: Did Mani have a premonition of his death?

Ajesh, who has now applied for the necessary permit, plans to ply the vehicle during his free time in the evenings and on holidays.

Oruma secretary Girish Babu expects ‘Manichettan’ to encourage many to fight adversities and excel in life like the late actor.
