BJP worker stabbed to death; hartal in Thrissur district today

Thrissur: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker was stabbed to death at Mukkattukara in Thrissur in the wee hours of Monday.

According to TV reports, the victim, Niramal (20), was stabbed after a scuffle at Kokkulangara Temple festival.

The BJP has alleged that CPM workers are behind the murder. Following the incident, BJP called for a dawn-to-dusk hartal in Thrissur district on Monday.

Police, quoting eyewitnesses, said at least seven persons were involved in the attack of whom some were allegedly from the CPM.

Another BJP worker, Mithun, is undergoing treatment.

This comes a month after a BJP worker was attacked and killed outside his home in Kannur district.
