Thodupuzha: Kerala police on Monday said that CPM activists were behind the attack on actor Asif Ali's house near here last month. The Thodupuzha police got the information from three people, who were arrested for robbing Rs. 4.32 lakh from an egg trader in the town.

Asif Ali's house had come under attack on the night of January 4. Asif Ali is the son of CPM leader and former chairman of Thodupuzha municipality, M.P. Shoukat Ali.

The attack was planned to divert public attention from an incident during a ward committee meeting that had taken place a few days ago, police said.

During the meeting, a group of DYFI activists had assaulted T.K. Anil Kumar, councilor of the 16th ward, with chair. They had even disrobed him and hurled casteist abuses.
