Thodupuzha: In a bizarre incident, a group of youngsters who were engaged in the wicked act of recording videos of women bathing in a village ghat using mobile phone, divided into two groups and took on each other after the hidden camera captured the images of the mother of one of the gang members.
The incident took place in a remote village, near here, the other day.
The clash ensued between the two groups left one of them severely wounded. The injured, who was stabbed by the person who allegedly ‘installed’ the mobile phone on the top of a coconut tree near the pond with its video recorder on, has been admitted to a hospital here.
The accused had made it a habit to place the camera pointed to the pond to record the bathing videos of the women living in the vicinity. Everyday in the evening, they used to assemble secretly at a local club in the area to view the videos on a computer.
Reportedly, all of them are active members of a left-wing youth organisation.
Last day, when the latest video was played, it delivered a rude shock to one of the group members after he saw his mother walking towards the pond to take a bath. Enraged, he got into a fight with the person who placed the camera on treetop. In the melee, one of the gang members got stabbed.
It was alleged that the local leader of the outfit, who took possession of the videos, has not yet handed them over to the police. The police have recorded the statement of the injured.
