Malappuram: The office of Malayalam daily 'Mathrubhumi' was vandalized on Tuesday by a group of people protesting over a road accident at Kottakkal in the district, police said.
Apparently, some media personnel tried filming the brawl, which erupted after a private bus knocked down a motorcycle rider. That didn't go down too well with a few in the group, who later gathered near 'Mathrubhumi' office and hurled stones at the building, Kottakkal Sub-Inspector Manjith Lal said.
Some even barged into the office of the daily and went on a rampage, damaging furniture, glass cabinets and telephones. They allegedly tried to manhandle the staff, but on seeing police, they ran off. The bus knocked down the motorcycle rider in front of Kottakkal HMS Hospital.
A case under sections of rioting has been registered and investigations are on, police said, adding that no one has been arrested nor injured.
