Thrissur: The Manali police investigating the death of an event management professional from Thrissur, whose decomposed body was found on the banks of Beas river at Bahang village two weeks ago, said that prima facie investigations have not indicated any foul play.
Since no injury marks were found on the body, the police also dismissed notions that the victim, Shifa Abdul Nizar, a native of Valiyalukkal near Kanimangalam in Thrissur district, was murdered in an attack.
However, the police could not confirm whether she was killed in the series of deadly avalanche that struck Manali in the first week of January.
The body, which was decomposed beyond recognition, was found buried under snow on January 29. Before cremation, the police had sent the body for a forensic examination and DNA profiling.

Meanwhile, her brother Shibin, who reached Manali the other day, identified the body from the video footages provided by the police.
Shifa, 22, daughter of Rayammaraykkar Abdul Nizar and Shermila, was working as an event management specialist.
According to her family members, Shifa had gone trekking in Manali along with her friends after finishing her assignments in Delhi. But none of her friends informed her relatives or the police after she went missing, raising suspicion over her death.
The Manali police, however, ruled out any foul play in the incident. The exact cause of the death can be ascertained only after the obtaining the forensic report, the police added.
Meanwhile, the police are trying to trace the owner of the mobile phone from which she last contacted her parents. Shifa told them that she had lost her mobile during the journey and was using a friend’s phone. However, her family members tried to call on that number several times after she went missing, but the phone had been switched off ever since.
The police believe that a clear picture on her death would emerge if they are able to trace the owner of that cellphone.
