Will the elusive TVPM-Bengaluru train hit the track this time?

Kottayam: Travel options to Bengaluru will increase with the introduction of a biweekly train if the new railway timetable is to go by.

But then the train connecting Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram via Kottayam, was anounced way back in 2013.

It never took off, probably due to pressure from various lobbies.

The new railway timetable, which came into effect on Saturday also features it.

As per the timetable, the 22657 Bengaluru-Thiruvananthapuram train will reach Kottayam at 5:32 am on Saturdays and Tuesdays. The 22658 Thiruvananthapuram-Bengaluru train will leave Kottayam at 9:13 pm on Thursdays and Sundays. The train will halt at Kottayam station for three minutes.

Only issue is, whether the train will indeed run.

The schedules of several express and superfast trains have been changed in the new timetable. The Venad Express will leave six minutes earlier in the morning, while the Parasuram Express will be later by 18 minutes.

The Kollam-Ernakulam Passenger train’s schedule has been postponed by five minutes. The passenger trains starting from Kottayam will have no change in schedule.

The 16347 Thiruvananthapuram-Mangaluru Express will reach Kottayam at 11:40 pm, 20 minutes earlier than its current schedule, while the Malabar Express will reach Kottayam 25 minutes past its current schedule.
