WhatsApp message in cop’s name backs claims by Saritha

Solar panel scam accused Saritha S. Nair (TV grab)

Kochi: A message doing the rounds on WhatsApp in the name of the Kerala Police Association’s former general secretary suggests that solar scam accused Sarita S Nair may be speaking the truth. The message, attributed to C.R. Biju, is in direct contradiction to the directives issued by the police chief on the personnel’s behaviour on social media.

“Sarita S. Nair’s statement before the solar commission that she gave Rs 20 lakh to the association’s state general secretary seems credible based on circumstances. The resolution the association passed in its state meeting in Kollam in May 2013 in favour of installing solar panels in all police offices in the state and an advertisement by a ‘well-wisher’ in a souvenir in the same period back the claims,” the post read.

The post also takes a snipe at the Director General of Police. It accuses the police chief of denying permission to reveal the truth when allegations against the association cropped up.

The police intelligence unit has started investigating into the post that violates the official circular ruling barring policemen from posting messages with political leanings or circulating them.

Another WhatsApp message, also attributed to Biju, criticises the office bearers of the police association.
