New Delhi: Justice C.S. Karnan's lawyer told the Supreme Court on Friday that the Calcutta High Court judge wanted to tender an unconditional apology but the apex court registry was not accepting his application.

The lawyer also requested the SC to stay the arrest of Karnan. The SC asked the lawyer to file an application and said he can be heard when the judges were available.

The lawyer had Thursday moved the SC seeking suspension of the six-month sentence awarded to Karnan for contempt of court.

The lawyer, Mathew J. Nadumpara, told chief justice J.S. Khehar that he had approached a large number of lawyers (advocates-on-record) to file the petition 'but they all refused as they are very afraid of you' (SC bench).

Karnan was said to have left the State Guest House in Chennai for the Shiva temple in Srikalahasti town in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday.

Nadumpara said in the case of justice Karnan, he was convicted and held guilty without any charges framed against him.
