The Delhi police have filed an incisive charge sheet in the January 17, 2014 death of Sunanda Pushkar, the wife of Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor.
Here are the major contentions of the police:
• Death: Sunanda Pushkar was found dead in her Delhi hotel suite on January 17, 2014
• Police charge Tharoor under sections sections 498 (A) (husband or his relative subjecting a woman to cruelty) and 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
• He had subjected his wife to cruelty
• Couple reportedly locked in an argument through the flight journey before the check-in
• Three years after the marriage, a public spat erupted on Twitter between Pushkar and a Pakistani journalist alleged to have been in an affair with Tharoor
• Tharoor was questioned initially to ascertain why Sunanda Pushkar checked into a hotel two days ahead of her death
• The police had stated that Sunanda Pushkar was poisoned
• Unconfirmed reports cited marks of struggle on her body
• Dellhi police FIR on January 1, 2015 against 'unknown persons' under IPC section 302 (murder)
• The charge sheet said Sunanda Pushkar died in three years, three months and 15 days of her marriage to Tharoor
