Indian captain Virat Kohli is no stranger to records and the 28-year-old added one more on Tuesday. But this was one record which the skipper would not have enjoyed as he was dismissed by Australian left-arm medium-pacer Jason Behrendorff for a duck in the second Twenty20 International in Guwahati to become the one to have played the maximum number of T20Is before falling for a blob. Kohli got out for a duck for the first-time ever in a T20I in only his 47th match.
Pakistan's Shoaib Malik held the previous record - having scored his first duck in his 40th T20I.
It was a game to forget for Kohli as he also suffered the ignominy of being the first Indian captain to get out without troubling the scorers in a T20I.
India have played 85 T20Is so far.
Behrendorff picked up 4/21 as Australia shot out India for 118 in seamer-friendly conditions at the Baraspra Stadium. The ground was making its debut as an international venue.
The tourists chased down the target losing only two wickets to square the three-match series.
"I don't think we were good enough with the bat. The wicket was bit sticking to start with. It was difficult for them as well, but after the dew set in, they got away," said Kohli after the loss.
"But we speak about when the situations are not in our favor is when we have to put 120 percent on the field. It is the attitude that matters most and it is something the team embraces," he added.
He was all praise for Behrendorff.
"I thought the ball to Rohit was very good. His line and length was very tight. He made us think. Credit to him for hitting the right areas. He definitely had a top class day today," said Kohli.
