When on a cancer treatment, a patient can experience nausea, diarrhoea, constipation and changes in appetite.
Here are a few strategies from the Mayo Clinic that patients can follow to eat healthfully.
If you have no appetite, eat in very small amounts, especially when eating high-calorie foods.
Select foods that are easy on your stomach, like broth-based soups and toasts.
Eat five or six small meals a day, instead of skipping meals.
Keep sipping small amounts of fluids during meals.
If you find the food tastes bland due to the treatment, add a little vinegar or lemon juice, unless your mouth is sore.
If you have the habit of snacking when stressed, find alternate ways, like calling a friend or walking, to manage it.
