Kochi: The Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, New Delhi, and the Goethe-Zentrum Trivandrum have announced a programme to promote fair migration of skilled workforce to Germany.
Sessions on living and working in Germany, in association with ProRecognition under Germany’s education and research ministry, will be held at Goethe-Zentrum Kochi on Thursday (May 16) and at Goethe-Zentrum Trivandrum on Friday (May 17) from 3:30 pm.
Participation is free, and admission is on a first-come-first-served basis, depending on available seats. Seats are limited at 150 each at Trivandrum and Kochi. Those interested can register their names at events@goethe-zentrum.org.
Dr Syed Ibrahim, Director - Goethe-Zentrum Trivandrum/Kochi and honorary consul of Germany to Kerala, said this is the first in a series of events planned in the state.
“This project provides comprehensive information and quality support to help skilled jobseekers from India integrate into the German labour markets,” he said.
“At these sessions, participants will be able to meet with experts and inquire about a wide range of topics like family relocation, school systems, training and leisure.”
Experts from ProRecognition will provide information on success factors for employment in Germany, the documents required, and the steps involved in the recognition process.
They will also answer questions, offer personalised advice and discuss the details and requirements for joining the ‘Hand in Hand for International Talents’ project.
The pre-integration services of the Goethe-Institut, Germany’s cultural institute promoting language and encouraging cultural exchange worldwide, prepare the candidates for success in daily and professional life.
This includes personal consultations, intercultural training, exam-format training, support, and guidance on language learning.
Information sessions with other German partners are also part of the programme. These sessions focus on visa requirements, Blue Card eligibility, recognition of professional qualifications, and changes in immigration laws, among many other topics.
Last year, Germany passed a law making it easier for migrants from outside the European Union to relocate, with many incentives.
The Zentrum, part of Goethe-Institut's worldwide network, has been operating in Kerala for more than 15 years.
It provides consular assistance to hundreds of people migrating to Germany, including language and examination training and certifying signatures and copies of documents.
