Baahubali at box office: Karan Johar gives exact figures

Mumbai: Breaking all the box office records, "Baahubali: The Conclusion" has earned Rs 121 crore net on the opening day.

The Hindi version of the film alone collected Rs 41 crore on day 1 while in Kerala, the film is believed to have collected around Rs 7 crore on Friday.

An elated Karan Johar, who is the presenter of the Hindi version of the S.S. Rajamouli-directed movie, took to Twitter to share the record breaking first day collection of the film.

"Grand India Total of 121 crore net! Hindi is 41 crore! Tamil+ Telegu+ Malayalam = 80 crore! History has been created!" (sic) Johar tweeted.

The Telugu version of the film netted a whopping Rs 53 crore, according to trade analyst Trinath.

"The film has taken a phenomenal opening. In Andhra and Telangana, the film in Telugu minted Rs. 53 crore, making it the biggest opening ever for any film across language in the two states. The film is expected to collect over Rs 100 crore from the two states over the weekend," he said.

In Tamil Nadu, the film collected around Rs 12 crore on the first day.

"If the early morning shows were not canceled across Tamil Nadu on Friday, the film could have collected even more. According to early estimates, it has minted around Rs 12 crore. It's going pick up over the weekend...," Trinath added.

In the US, from Thursday premieres alone, the film raked in $2.5 million.

The film has broken the records of superstar Salman Khan and Aamir Khan's blockbusters "Sultan" (36.54 crore) and "Dangal" (29.78 crore).

"Baahubali: The Conclusion", released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, features Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati and Ramya Krishnan in the lead.
